MLISTM Certification Reaccreditation
Once you earn the right to use the MLIS certification, you must engage in an ongoing
continuing education process to maintain it. This involves obtaining 3 hours of
approved professional and management liablity insurance continuing education credit
during the 24 months following initial receipt of the certification and every 12
months thereafter. You may obtain this CE credit by completing online MLIS courses
or attending seminars or conferences that have been approved for MLIS reaccreditation
(and notifying us that you have completed them).
Online MLISTM Courses for Reaccreditation
In addition to the courses you completed when you obtained your MLIS certification,
the MLIS Learning Center will offer other professional and management liability
risk and insurance courses designed to increase your expertise. One of these courses
is all that is necessary to satisfy your 3-hour CE requirement, and most will also
qualify for insurance CE if you need it. Courses that are planned in the future
to build a library of courses focused on the professional and management liability
risk and insurance issues include:
- Management Liability for Privately-Held Companies
- Management Liability for Nonprofits
- Public Officials Liability
Alternatively, you may retake one of the core courses to satisfy the 3-hour requirement,
and we recommend you do this every few years as we update the courses to cover the
latest developments in professional and management liability risk and insurance.
Attend a Seminar, Webinar, or Conference
Your other option for maintaining your MLIS certification is to attend a conference
or seminar that has been approved for MLIS reaccreditation. Approved seminars and
conferences will be posted on this page.
